Solid Ground Omaha

About

About Solid Ground Omaha

A locally owned concrete company working Omaha and the rest of Douglas County.

Locally owned

One crew, one service area, no franchise call center answering your calls.

Free on-site estimates

We measure the actual job and send a written scope before you owe us anything.

Fast scheduling

A tight service area means we can usually get out to look at the job within days, not weeks.

Built around one service area

Solid Ground Omaha is a locally owned concrete contractor working Omaha and the towns around it. We stay inside a service area we can actually cover well instead of spreading a crew thin across the whole state, which is what lets us keep scheduling fast and stand behind the work after the truck leaves.

We take on residential driveways, patios, garage floors, sidewalks and slabs, along with repair and replacement work on concrete that has cracked, sunk or simply worn out. Every job starts with a real site visit, not a quote off a photo.

How we quote and how we work

We start with a free on-site estimate. Someone comes out, measures the area, looks at drainage and access, and talks through your options. From there you get a written scope so you know exactly what is included before you agree to anything.

Once a job is scheduled, we prep the base, pour and finish the concrete, and walk you through curing and care before we consider the job done. If something needs a follow-up visit after the fact, we come back.

How the job gets built

Four steps, in order, no shortcuts

A good pour is a sequence, not a single step. Skipping or rushing any one of these is where most concrete problems start, which is why the base and the cure time matter as much as the pour itself.

STEP 01

Base prep

We excavate to a consistent depth, compact a gravel base in layers, and grade it so water sheds away from the house instead of pooling. This is the step nobody sees once the job is done, and the one that decides whether the concrete holds up.

STEP 02

Forms and reinforcement

Wood forms set the shape and edges, and wire mesh or rebar goes in where the load calls for it. Control joints get planned out now too, so any future cracking follows a straight line instead of a random one.

STEP 03

Pour and finish

Air-entrained concrete gets placed, screeded level and floated flat, then finished with the texture you picked, broom, exposed aggregate, stamped or smooth. Timing the finish work to the weather is what keeps the surface from cracking or dusting later.

STEP 04

Cure and seal

Fresh concrete needs time and moisture to reach full strength, so we protect it while it cures instead of rushing you back onto it. A sealer applied once it has cured helps it stand up to salt and freeze-thaw cycles for years longer.
